Girraween National Park

cottagesGirraween National Park is located 35km south of Stanthorpe.  On the way you will pass Heavenly Chocolate, the Carriage Stop, as well as several wineries. On reaching Girraween, stop off at the visitor information center, then why not enjoy a picnic in the parklands - experiencing the local kangaroos and birdlife.  Walks at Girraween range from a 5 minute stroll to Bald Rock Creek and the Waterhole, to full day hike that explores the distant ends of the park.  Make sure you are adequately prepared, with plenty of water and supplies!  (See the EPA website for suggestions).

  Bald Rock Creek

Only a short stroll from the carpark, Bald Rock Creek demonstrates some of the areas wonderful granite riverbeds.  Fish can sometimes be seen in the creek, and the views to the Pyramids will amaze.

  Granite Arch
Granite Arch - around a 35min walk return.  Enjoy a meander through native forests and wander under the Arch.  If you time it right, there are often plenty of wildflowers.  Other dramatic outcrops along the way provide for an interesting walk.

  The Pyramids

The Pyramids - this is what Girraween is famous for!  A good two hour, strenuous walk, sometimes a little dangerous!  For those that make it to the top, 360 degree panoramic views over the entire park are a fitting reward.

You can find further information on Girraween to plan your trip on the
