 Stanthorpe and wine are now becoming
synomious. Our cool mountain climate reaches over 3000 feet above
sea level and is matched no where else in Queensland. The last
couple of decades have seen an explosion in vineyards and cellar doors,
though grapes have been grown here since the area was first
settled. Some of the original vines may still be found.
Much care, attention and now technology are incorporated into the
Stanthorpe Wine culture, with the area now boasting construction of a
new wine-tourism college. With so many winerys to visit, you will
be sure to find your perfect drop.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Cabernet Franc
are just the start.
